    Background Introduction   Nowadays, in automation assembly, the 3D laser line profilers and RFID UHF readers and UHF passive tags are great-used for measurement of gap difference between four welded doors and two covers for sedans.   In the process of car body assembly, the matching degree (gap, surface difference) of the body covering parts is one of the important quality factors, which not only affects the assembly quality, but also directly affects the perceived quality of the car. The traditional measurement method for the gap and surface difference between the four doors and two covers of passenger cars relies on feeler gauges and manual observation, which has low efficiency and is greatly affected by human factors. Moreover, the measurement data cannot be quickly imported into the computer and is not suitable for the requirements of modern automotive production. The automated online gap surface difference measurement system uses robots carrying visual sensors, which has advantages such as online dynamic tracking measurement, high frame rate, high accuracy, and high detection efficiency.   Foreign car interprise such as BMW, Volvo and Volkswagen have already assembled it. Similar to measurement systems, with the rise of domestic new energy vehicle companies, the demand for gap surface difference measurement systems is further strengthened.   Function Overview   The gap surface difference detection equipment for automobile welding achieves high-precision and high-efficiency,automated measurement of the gap surface difference between the four doors and two covers of passenger cars. Four robotic arms carry four 3D laser line profilers embedded in the production line for online dynamic measurement, ensuring the production line's rhythm. The measuring points are 100% fully inspected. The measurement efficiency is less than 1 minute per unit; RFID UHF fixded readers automatically recognizes the vehicle model by reading the UHF passive tag ID which is glued on each car body.
